Does a double-storey roof cost more to waterproof?
The rate per square metre is similar; the difference is access. Scaffolding or a platform is a separate cost and should be shown in the quote rather than added later.
Why is the uphill wall of my property damp?
Where a wall retains ground, saturated soil pushes moisture through it. External drainage that intercepts water before it reaches the wall usually helps more than coating the inside.
Do contractors charge extra to come out to Panorama?
Some add travel and some do not, depending on where they are based. Ask whether it is inside the quoted rate before comparing totals, because a call-out added afterwards changes the ranking.
Can waterproofing be applied over the existing coating?
Only where the existing layer is sound, dry and compatible. Coating over a blistered or delaminating membrane traps moisture underneath and the new work fails early. That is the most common reason a roof gets paid for twice.
Do I need to find the leak before waterproofing?
If there is an active leak, yes. Water enters at one point and appears at another, so coating the stained area often misses the entry point entirely. The inspection comes first, then the system is specified for what was found.
Is waterproofing covered by household insurance?
Insurers generally cover sudden damage rather than gradual failure. A membrane at the end of its life is normally treated as wear and tear. Storm damage is a separate question and your policy wording decides it.
